Baby Phat

Here's a quick report of Travis' checkup with the gastro-intestinal specialist:

It was a month since the last time we went in and the biggest reason to go in again was to have his weight checked by the dr. to see if/how he was progressing. In the past month he gained....

1.5 lbs!!!

Which brings his weight to almost 21 lbs. I asked the dr. what a normal weight gain for a little guy his age should be and he said a half pound a month is what he should be aiming for. So, 1.5 lbs is really awesome! He'll be playing catchup with his weight for a little while but the dr. told me not to worry when it starts to taper off. As long as he is steadily gaining, we have no worries. Travis is finally headed toward being on the growth chart instead of headed farther away from it. Ha ha. I'm so thrilled. He is still on Miralax once a day to keep him regular and the dr. said not to worry about him being on it because has no side effects or long term effects. We will keep him on it for a few more months and then see if he can stay regular on his own. His lack of weight gain is probably attributed towards his constipation issues he's been dealing with for so long (practically since he started on solid foods). He also said that he doesn't think there are any problems with his intestines or digestive tract so we just need to watch him and make sure he continues to have an appetite and pack on the pounds.

As for Braden, he is doing a little better with being sad over his dad being gone. He of course still misses him and cries sometimes, but its not as bad as it was. I got the books about deployment and divorce that I ordered for him and we read them today. A lot of what they had to say really seemed to click with him. One of the ideas one of the books had, was to make a special box to fill with pictures of his dad and he can take the pictures out when he gets sad. He asked if we could do that as I was getting him ready for bed, so I've been uploading every possible picture of Tye with the boys and some of just Tye to Costco.com so I can pick them up for him tomorrow. I think that will be good for both the boys to be able to have pictures they can hold instead of just the ones on the walls in their room.
